A white bra under a white shirt is the most visible option there is, because white reflects light back through thin cotton while a shade close to your own skin absorbs it. So the rule is match your skin, not the shirt. Match your skin, not the shirt
This is the single change that does the most, and it surprises people every time. Under thin white fabric a white bra reads as a bright shape and a skin-toned one reads as nothing at all. The shade to look for is close to your own rather than a generic beige -- the further it sits from your skin, the more it behaves like white.
Seams and lace print even in the right colour
Once the colour is right, what stays visible is texture: a seam across the cup, a bow at the centre, a scalloped edge at the top. A moulded cup has none of them, which is why it is the standard answer for anything sheer. The same holds below the waist -- bonded edges rather than stitched ones.
Check it in daylight rather than in a bathroom
